Production update

30/09/14

Hello!
In today's double media lesson we produced the shot list and began the storyboards. We finalized our idea for the story line and how it would progress and wrote a shot-by-shot with each type of shot and any motion noted so it can easily be re-read. The shot list contains 22 transitions, mostly cut but containing 2 fades.

We have also started working on the storyboards, drawing the character in each and using the shot list to produce an accurate envision of what it will look like when filmed. This is to be completed at a later date.

During the initial story planning we came up with 3 very different ideas. We then decided from the 3 ideas we came up with which would be the best. We then began to write a more in-depth shot list about the selected story line.

Hello!
In today's lesson we continued the storyboards and went out to collect what we needed for the preproduction. We made detailed prop lists, costume lists and began drafting a budget sheet as well as signing actor releases and visiting the potential locations and collecting recce forms.

Hello!
In the double lesson today we worked on collecting photos of our potential locations to use alongside our recce forms and we worked on finishing all the paperwork. We began writing the annotations on the storyboards, which were fully drawn and completed.

Hello!
In today's double lesson we focused on finishing all the paperwork. We completed the written section of the storyboards and made sure we had all the relevant pieces of work. When we had all the pieces we drafted and then sent an email to the local police to inform them that we would be filming in public and what we would include in the short film i.e. fake weapons and fighting.

Hello!
Today we had planned to film outside in the forest however due to rain and limitations of talent - one of the actors was unavailable - we could not. We did, however, manage to film in our other location, W16. We managed to film the whole inside scene and we will go to film in the forest in tomorrow's double lesson.

Today we did our outside scene. It took just under the two-hour time limit so we had time to add the footage to the computers and set up a Premiere Pro project, ready for editing as we had successfully captured both scenes of our short.

Hello!
In the double lesson - spanning over Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning - we began to edit, however I was not in the Wednesday lesson. On the Thursday we continued to edit together the first scene, doing simple cuts and transitions and making sure that the length of each clip was correct, to cut out the unused footage at the start or end of a scene.

Hello!
Today we completed the first scene, putting it all together and adding a black and white effect. For this effect we layered a black and white effect with colour correction and added a little noise to make it grainy like an old film noir would look. We completed editing the second scene and adding the effects. Then we decided that a title would make it look nicer so we created a title screen for the piece. We began to edit the OSTs so they would fit each shot nicely. We still have to put the sound effects on to the scenes and finish editing the OST.
